Research structures
The Department of Physics has the objective of promoting interdisciplinary thematic projects either within Politecnico (by collaborating with the other departments) and by external actions with National Research Institutions.
The research activity of the Department is performed in the headquarter located in the Leonardo Campus and in the laboratories at "Polo di Como", and is divided into 5 research lines:
- Ultrashort light pulse generation and applications to the study of ultrafast phenomena in the matter
- Solid state lasers and photonic devices
- Photonics for health, food and cultural heritage
- Epitaxial growth and nanostructure fabrication
- Electronic, optical and magnetic properties of low-dimensional systems
