"Photonic topological insulators in non-magnetic two dimensional settings"

Topological Photonics is a fairly new research topic whose e orts are directed towards the understanding, classi cation and technological implementation of Photonic topological Insulators (PTIs). These arti cial materials are generally described as systems with bulk energy band gaps and scattering-free unidirectional edge modes. In this talk, I will discuss the classi cation of two-dimensional PTIs, in particular I will review the most important microwave and optical implementations of PTIs, relying on very di erent approaches. I will finally summarize some of our most recent contributions (as well as open questions) to the interesting and promising topic of interaction between topological modes.
