"Beyond light sheet fluorescence microscopy"

Light sheet fluorescence microscopy is a technology that has become one of the most widely used methods for three-dimensional imaging due to its high speed and low phototoxicity. Thanks to the 90-degrees configuration, a sample is illuminated laterally with a sheet of laser light and the fluorescence from a whole 2D plane is collected orthogonally and record by a highspeed camera. This parallel excitation and acquisition modality is key for the rapid acquisition of 3D volume with a large field of view, high resolution and limited photo-damage compared to standard microscopy techniques.
In this talk, I will give you an overview of my research activity, from the design of the first light sheet fluorescence microscopy setups to the more recent innovative implementations. I will also show some of the most important results I obtained in the field of plant biology, neuroscience and bioprinting. However, my path has been highly multidisciplinary and has led me to work in various research areas. Therefore, I will go beyond light sheet fluorescence microscopy and show some of my last contributions on the more general topic of imaging.
