Information

Gianluca Galzerano received the degree in Electronic Engineering and the PhD in Metrology at the Polytechnic of Milan (1994)  and Polytechnic of Turin (1999), respectively. Since 2001 he is researcher (since 2006 senior researcher) at the Institute for Photonics and Nanotechnology of the National Research Council and an adjunct professor at the Politecnico di Milano, where he taught experimental physics at the Faculty of Engineering. From April 2010 to November 2013, he was the Director of the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology of the National Research Council.

His research includes the development of solid-state lasers and amplifiers, based on innovative materials and techniques, widely tunable in the near and mid-infrared spectral region (from 1 μm to 4 μm) for the following applications: high-resolution molecular spectroscopy, optical radar for remote sensing of atmosphere (coherent Doppler lidar and DIAL systems), high resolution and high precision sensors,  optical frequency synthesizers,  frequency metrology, and precision electromagnetic measurements.
