Thermal analysis and modeling of electrical components

A multinational company operating in the civil electrical systems sector offers a company thesis. The thesis student will work together with the test laboratory technicians, who carry out the tests of domestic electrical components (sockets, plugs, switches and the like) which have the aim of verifying that the overtemperatures during operation are within the limits established by the regulations. The thesis student will start from an already partially developed theoretical thermal model, apply it and adapt it to the various components under test and compare it with the experimental results; the aim is to finally obtain a complete model capable of predicting and analyzing the thermal behavior of the various components, identifying any critical points and suggesting the necessary modifications. Finally, the thesis student will have to write a manual that summarizes the work done and contains all the instructions for using the model thus developed; this document will then become the laboratory guide to analyze the measurements and suggest future product development. In addition to deepening the analytical study of the theoretical model and learning measurement techniques, the thesis student will learn to use numerical simulators of electrical, mechanical and thermal phenomena.
