Federico Basso Basset new researcher in the Department of Physics
News

Francesco Basso Basset graduated in Physics from the University of Milan and obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Nanotechnology from the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2018. During his doctoral studies, he worked in the Laboratory of Semiconductor Spectroscopy, collaborating with the Interuniversity Center L-NESS and spending eight months at Johannes Kepler University in Linz.
He then joined the Nanophotonics group at the Sapienza University of Rome as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer, participating in several European and national research projects. His research has mainly focused on how to generate quantum signals made of single and entangled photons, using semiconductor nanostructures known as quantum dots, and finding use for their unique features in optical communication and information processing.
Now he is joining the Physics Department at the Politecnico di Milano to further investigate these topics and explore the prospects of photonic quantum technologies in spectroscopy and sensing.
