NANOMAG
The electronic and magneto-optical measurement laboratory, located at PoliFab, is dedicated to the electrical, magnetic and optical characterization of heterostructures and devices for spin electronics (tunnel junctions, multiferroic and magnetoelectric devices, ferroelectric Rashba semiconductors (FERSC), topological materials) and nano-biotechnology (sensors for bio-molecular recognition applications).
The main instruments available in the laboratory are:
- Closed-circuit He cryostat, at variable temperature (10-450 K) and compatible with a magnetic field up to 0.5 T applied to sample, for electrical (magneto-transport) and magneto-optical (Kerr effect) measurements;
- Optical station for magneto-optical characterization at room temperature (Kerr effect, Faraday effect) of magnetic films and devices;
- Kerr microscope for spatially resolved vectorial magnetic characterization of magnetic devices and films;
- Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) for the magnetic characterization of materials (films, powders, liquids), with sensitivity <0.1 μemu, maximum field 2.2 T, variable temperature in the range 100 - 1000 K;
- Low noise 4-point transport probe station, for magneto-electrical characterization of micro and nano-electronic devices (giant and tunnelling magnetoresistance, anomalous and ordinary Hall effect, bilinear magneto-resistance, ferromagnetic resonance, spin torque effects,…);
- Measurement station for the magneto-transport characterization of bio-sensors in dry and liquid environment.
