Congratulations to Chiara Trovatello, Assistant Professor here at our Physics Department, recipient of the Young Scientist Award 2025, at the PhotonIcs & Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS) Conference in Abu Dhabi (4-8 May 2025).

The Young Scientist Awards are awarded every year by the Electromagnetics Academyat the PIERS Conference to early career presenters with a PhD in science/engineering and under 40 years of age by the conference date. Awardees are selected after peer-review of the applications by the PIERS Young Scientist Program Committee.

Chiara has received the Young Scientist Award in the category “Metamaterials, Plasmonics and Complex Media” for her invited contribution “Ultracompact nonlinear platforms based on van der Waals semiconductors for classical and quantum states of light”, which addresses the challenge of miniaturizing entangled photon sources using nano-engineered layered semiconductors.

Congratulations Chiara!!
