EXPLORER project kick-off meeting – 20 and 21 November 2025

18th November 2025

On 20 and 21 November 2025, the Kick-off meeting will be held, an event promoted by Petra Paiè, professor of Physics at the Politecnico di Milano, and dedicated to the EXPLORER project.

The EXPLORER project

EXPLORER aims to contribute to the monitoring and study of various extreme or remote natural environments through the development of new technologies that can be used directly in situ. The study of ecosystems and environmental protection are often hampered by the need to collect and transport samples to the laboratory, a process that can alter their functionality and make it difficult to understand their real interactions with their environment of origin.

To address this challenge, the project – supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme – will develop innovative, robust, portable and easy-to-use photonic technologies that will enable scientific investigations to be carried out directly in situ, even in remote locations. It will also create less expensive and less invasive tools that will enable the acquisition of new fundamental data on ecosystems, supporting sustainability and conservation strategies.

The Consortium involves seven European partners and eight non-European collaborators, including Prof. Petra Paiè.

The Kick-off Meeting

The Kick-off Meeting will provide an opportunity to present EXPLORER, examine the study underlying the project in greater depth, and discuss upcoming developments.

Several members of the Consortium will attend the event to illustrate their contribution to EXPLORER's research activities.

Location and time

The Kick-off Meeting will take place in the Donatori Hall, Building 1, starting at 9:00 a.m.
