The Mechanical Workshop of the Department of Physics (Leonardo) carries out activities to support the research laboratories and the Department itself. For the Laboratories in the Department, it takes care of the design and fabrication of mechanical parts against a schematic drawing or brief description. Modifications with alternative solutions for mechanical parts are made, evaluating the most suitable material.

It also makes mechanical parts or modifications at the request of other agencies or departments, carrying out contract work.

There are several machine tools, such as a MMA-MIG-TIG welding room. Materials used for machining are: Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Iron, Brass, Copper, Plastic Materials, Macon, Wood.
