SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES

  • Generation of short laser pulses: study and development of solid state laser oscillators in the picosecond and femtosecond regime, with high energy pulses, and of optical parametric amplifiers producing pulses in the visible and near IR tuneable or broadband with short pulsewidth (7 fs).
  • Ultrafast spectroscopy of organic and inorganic materials: development of measurement setup with high temporal resolution (10-100 fs), such as pump-probe and up-conversion, study of photophysical properties of new organic materials and colloidal semiconductors nanocrystals, plasmonic systems, with particular attention to emission properties for optoelectronic applications.
  • Lasers with innovative materials: development of lasers based on organic materials (conjugated polymes and tiophenes) and semiconductor colloidal nanocrystals study of the optical cavities, of the emission properties and of the applications in the field of optical communication for signal modulation.
  • Scanning optical microscopy near field (SNOM) and confocal: development of a SNOM microscope with high temporal (30 fs) and spatial (100 nm) resolution and of a confocal microscope for the study of metal nanoparticles and on polymers in films and in devices.
