Anjam Khursheed graduated from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1979 with a joint BSC honors degree in Physics and Electronics. He continued on at the University of Edinburgh to do a doctorate in the subject of computational electron optics and the scanning electron microscope, and was awarded a PHD in 1983. Anjam Khursheed worked as a Research Fellow at CERN, Geneva/France, the European high energy physics laboratory, between the years, 1984 to 1987. He worked in areas related to computational accelerator physics, such as modeling the electromagnetic scattering inside electric field cavities excited by relativistic charged particles. Khursheed returned to the University of Edinburgh and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow between 1987 to 1992, engaged in research on scanning electron microscopy and electron energy spectrometers. From 1992 to 1995, he spent two years at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, where he carried out research modeling electromagnetic fields inside atomic clocks. From 1995 to 2022, Anjam Khursheed has been a lecturer/professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the National University of Singapore. From 2022, he took up a professor position in the department of Physics atthe Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy. His of areas of research are in the subject of combining electron energy spectroscopy with scanning electron microscopy in order to create new spectro-microscopy techniques that can map ethe electronic properties of materials on the nanoscale.
