The Research Ethics Committee of the Politecnico di Milano is organising the seminar ‘Science, Academia, Big Tech: Towards a Monopoly on Knowledge?’, featuring Gianfranco Pacchioni, Professor Emeritus at the University of Milan-Bicocca and a member of the Accademia dei Lincei.
During the event, Pacchioni will present the book Clear Science, Obscure Science. Pure Research, Military Research, Big Tech, published by Il Mulino.
The event will take place on Monday 8 June at 4.30 pm in lecture theatre T.2.1 and will be structured as follows:
- 4.30 pm — Opening of the event with Andrea Bassi (Research Ethics Committee and Department of Physics) and Giacomo Ghiringhelli (Department of Physics and Accademia dei Lincei);
- 4.40 pm — Presentation of the book Scienza chiara, scienza oscura. Ricerca pura, ricerca militare, Big Tech with Gianfranco Pacchioni;
- 05.20 pm — Discussion with the audience, moderated by Simona Chiodo (Department of Architecture and Urban Studies);
- 06 pm — Conclusion of the event.
