FEMTO-PRINTER

FEMTOsecond laser micromachining for maniPulating polaRItonic and quaNTum nonlinearities in 2D matERials

The main goal of the FEMTO-PRINTER project is to study and exploit polaritonic and quantum nonlinearities for photonic devices, exploiting the potential of femtosecond laser micromachining to manipulate and integrate micro- and nano-photonic structures with two-dimensional materials. Taking advantage of the unique phenomena induced by the interaction of materials with femtosecond laser pulses, we will “print” photonic architectures inside or around a two-dimensional material layer. The project opens a new perspective in the study and engineering of nonlinearities and interactions between light and matter in solid-state systems.

The Principal Investigator of the project is Dr. Francesco Todisco, researcher at the CNR Nanotec in Lecce. Politecnico di Milano is a partner in this project, offering key knowledge in integrated quantum optics, as well as fundamental and strong expertise in femtosecond laser micromachining.
